Following its huge success in their last visit, the Zhejiang Wu Opera Research Centre will bring in Sun Wu Kong Thrice Beat the Bony Demon this year, a grand production based on a story from Journey to the West. The cast includes Yang Xiayun, Lou Sheng and Zhou Hongwei, who will perform tricks such as ‘face-changing’ and acrobatic stunts. This year will also see the return of Yang Xiayun as the feisty female warrior in Mu Guiying, romanced by Yang Zongbao played by Lou Sheng. Other excerpts are performed with the traditional singing and martial techniques of Wu Opera.
