Towards the end of the Qing dynasty, as the reign of the empire fades out, life in the border town shifts from tranquillity to turmoil. The once prosperous tea houses and ancient tea trees have not only sustained traditional wisdom, but also attracted greedy eyes from external forces. Facing external demands and a livelihood crisis, contradictory opinions emerge: some advocate a complete revolution, using radical means to break the shackles; others insist on steady reform, striving to modernise while preserving tradition; yet others call for practical collaboration to make peace. The border town ultimately succeeded in making a painstaking yet self-strengthening decision, thereby sustaining both tradition and innovation.
