Guan Gong (Lord Guan), a famous general during the Three Kingdoms period, has been a frequent subject of adaptation in Chinese opera. His stage image is authoritative, carrying a long beard on a red painted face. Five finely selected films feature topnotch interpretations of the character by such stellar performers as Kwan Tak-hing, Sun Chu, and Leng Wah Hang. Prof Yuen Siu-fai will host some of the post-screening talks.
